CostDB
Capital Budget Solutions' data infrastructure for public infrastructure decisions.
CostDB is how we put historical construction cost data to work. We use it for planning, benchmarking, estimating, and proposal review. It's not a product we sell; it's the foundation behind every recommendation we make.
Built from real project experience. Patent pending.
Built from the work.
We started with a simple idea: past projects should help inform current decisions.
Years of estimating, tracking historical costs, benchmarking projects, and reviewing contractor proposals developed into a repeatable methodology for putting costs in context. We built CostDB to make that methodology faster, more consistent, and easier to apply.
Today, we use CostDB in day-to-day evaluation for public owners, and continue to develop it around what that work actually needs. The methodology and technology behind it are patent pending.
From project history to project intelligence.
CAPTURE
Build the history.
Structure historical project and proposal data so costs can be consistently tracked, escalated, and compared.
UNDERSTAND
Put costs in context.
Explore project, division, and unit-cost information using relevant historical projects rather than relying on a single average.
APPLY
Use the information.
Apply historical cost intelligence to capital planning, conceptual estimating, benchmarking, proposal review, and other project decisions.
Examples of what CostDB can do
Generate Conceptual Estimates

Look Up Historical Unit Costs

Built for public owners.
We're developing CostDB around a simple objective: make historical construction cost data more useful to the people making capital decisions.
Our long-term vision is a shared approach to cost intelligence by helping public owners learn from their own project history and, where appropriate, broader comparable data.
